OMP Mechtron was founded in 1987 by Mr. Alberto Conte, the current President. Starting from 2002, his son Andrea is supporting him as the company’s CEO.

OMP was born with the initial aim to distribute 19 inch standard mechanics for the electronic integration market. In 2004, OMP supplemented the distribution activity with a production department completely dedicated to mechanical assembly and the wiring of in-house built racks and subracks. The aim of this strategic decision was to give a better service to their customers, simplifing the “ supply chain” by giving more integrated products.

Between 2005 and 2007, OMP acquired the production plants of its mechanical supplier. This helped OMP to became entirely autonomous for design and production of mechanics integrated for electronics.

In 2009, OMP started its process of internalized production and opened its first production plant abroad, in Shanghai, China. The success of the Chinese plant has encouraged OMP to continue its process of internalization. In 2013, OMP Mechtron opened two new plants on the other side of the world. The first, in May, is located in the Mexican town of Guadalajara, and the second in July, is located outside of the American city of Columbia, South Carolina.
